Hi all,
Last night (Aug 10) at about 0120 UT (I don't have the exact time right
here,
but it is recorded) Rainer Arlt and I saw an unusual meteor, perhaps a
re-entry of (a part of) a satellite or a grazing meteoroid. It had
a very low inclined trajectory:
- the trail was approx. 90 deg long
first sighting: about 3 deg N of zeta UMa
terminal point: about 4 des S of Pleiades
- the angular velocity was low (about 5 deg/s)
- apparent magnitude -1, no flares, gradually decreasing brightness
- orange colour
- permanently leaving bright sparks behind the 'head', about 1-1.5 deg
long
We observed from Potsdam, Germany (13.0 deg E, 52.4 deg N).
Are there other observations of this object?
Regards,
