Hi Michael,
nice pictures of those supernumeraries. You can also nicely see the
supernumeraries lying further apart higher up in the bow (best seen in the
first picutre on second row). Presumably the smaller water droplets which
were lighter did not fall down as much in the wind than the heavier,
bigger
droplets, so the supernumeraries are not circular (?). It is puzzling,
though, why there were so many nice supernumeraries in the first place if
there were multiple sizes of droplets.
I have a natural photo of the first supernumerary outside the secondary
bow, taken in Holland in 2000, which I will try to scan in sometime.
