Over New Mexico (USA), between March 10 and 14 (5 days), there was a nice
corona around the sun in otherwise clear blue sky. I initially thought
the
corona was caused by particles high in the atmosphere, but on the 12th I
noticed that it also was in front of a mountain while the sun was
disappearing behind it. So, whatever caused the corona was low-altitude
and it must have been pollen.
Does anyone on the list know from which tree or plant the pollen were?
I am attaching two photos of the corona, taken 12 March. Photo nr. 50 was
taken using a 125mm lens on a Nikon D100 which has a 1.5x focal length
multiplier. I also took slides.
