The experts here will probably have a better answer, but my
impression
is that the Parry arc is more common than usually suggested. I've seen
it a few times here in Flagstaff (35N lat) when there's a well-developed
circumscribed halo and moderately-low solar elevation. I've seen the
upper suncave Parry arc with the upper tangent arc (a la Greenler plate
2-17),
as well as the double-chevron set at low sun angles (sunvex Parry arc
nested
inside the upper tangent arc).
