Hi Jan,
It does sound like upper tangent arcs - was the point of the 'V'
at
about
22 degrees from the sun - about the same angle away as the sundog was?
I suspect it probably was.
If you're interested in halos check out this site:
http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/terrace/aad74/halo/halosim.htm
I've learned a lot about halos there. There is a program available to
download (for free)
at that site which simulates halos. It's pretty cool.
Have a good day!
Chuck.

>Last friday, at about 19.30 UT, with the sun low in the NE, I saw a halo
above the sun, about the form of a V. I never sw such a halo before (but
I only recently started looking for halo's). I think it was a upper
tangent arc. Is this possible?
About an hour earlier, I saw one sundog, on the right side of the sun.
Jan.
