Dear friends,
Veikko asked me to announce me one sad news from
Germany today. A member of METEOPTIC whose writings
most of you have seen on several occasions in
this newsgroup has passed away.
Today Jarmo Moilanen got a message from Berlin that
Dr. Eberhard Tränkle, from Freie Universität Berlin,
a pioneer and specialist in halo computer simulations
has died. Coincidentally we might have been last to
interview him. Eberhard was in United States
among the scholars interviews for the Finnish Broadcasting
company one hour science television document
on halos.
I am not happy to mention that Eberhard and I were for
many years - one might say in exceptionally - bad terms
with each other, but I am happy to say that we fixed our
arguments in a very friendly manner last February in
United States. He was a warm and friendly character and
I he much appreciated amateur halo and other amateur sky
watching work both in Europe and elsewhere.
